Trail
Like all ideas, this one has to begin somewhere and it begins here. The purpose is simply to start moving a thought forward. This will take the form of a blog, with entries shared across a variety of mediums—photographs, short reels, pieces of music, hand sketches and/or written reflections. Stories won’t follow a linear timeline; instead, they will be shared on here at random.
McKinnon Pass
‘McKinnon Pass’ (Apr 2024)
Standing at McKinnon Pass, the highest point of the Milford Track, felt like arriving at a rare and fleeting moment that nature had quietly allowed us to witness. We were among the lucky few who happened to be there at exactly the right time—when the clouds parted and the mountains revealed themselves in full. The ranger said that clear views from the pass are rare, given how unpredictable the weather can be in this part of the fiord. Somehow, on that day, everything aligned.
The temperature was –5°C, and the cold cut sharply through the air, but it only seemed to heighten the experience. The crispness made the landscape feel even more vivid and alive, as if the stillness of the mountains had settled over us for a moment.
The Milford Track, a four-day hike through Fiordland in New Zealand’s South Island, is known as one of the country’s famous “Great Walks.” Even securing a place on the trail is its own kind of expedition—bookings open a year in advance, and getting a spot can feel like a race against thousands of hopeful hikers. Yet once you’re there, walking through valleys carved by glaciers, seeing thousands of waterfalls and climbing toward a place like McKinnon Pass, you understand why so many people try.
More than anything, the journey leaves a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the landscape, for the rare moment of clear skies, and for the people who shared the trail and the experience along the way.
This is the unedited audio/video from McKinnon Pass—a small token into that moment. Enjoy.
Soul Tribe
‘Soul Tribe’ (Home - Mar 2023)
This is Raja and Toshi. They both have a deep love for the outdoors, though Raja seems to enjoy it most when Toshi is beside him. When Toshi isn’t there, Raja still goes out, but there’s a subtle sense that something is missing.
Because I’m often traveling interstate or overseas—sometimes for work, sometimes for leisure—home becomes especially meaningful when I’m actually there. And when I am, I tend to spend most of that time with my guardians, my loving pets.
Three cats (Chips, Toshi, & Raj) and two bunnies (Luthien & Ari) might sound like a lot, even a little chaotic, but our home is surprisingly calm. We’ve settled into a quiet rhythm together, living peacefully and with a lot of affection for one another.
Lake Eppalock
‘To Camp & Kayak’ (Lake Eppalock - May 2024)
Solitude is something I value highly. The opportunity to camp and kayak in such a beautiful place is truly priceless. I’ve fallen into the tradition of spending my birthday doing something like this—seeking a bit of a lonewolf adventure outdoors.
Eskapo Verde
‘Eskapo Verde’ (Oslob, Cebu Philippines - Oct 2025)
Conversations with friends back home felt both familiar and strangely alienating (in a good way)—coarse and grainy, like this photo, yet still beautiful because of the scenic view we were in accompanied by the consumption of good food.
“We often learn more from people who challenge our thinking than from those who simply agree with us.”
